Foster Care

Since our founding as an orphanage in 1850, Porter-Leath has provided a safe, nurturing home for children. Due to lack of need for orphanages in the US during the 1950s and 1960s, Porter-Leath transitioned to foster care and still provides great homes for at-risk children.

Each year, Porter-Leath Foster Care provides homes to over 100 youth in Shelby County. To support the program, several items are always very helpful to the agency, such as school supplies, toiletries, towels, car seats and diapers. To donate, call 901-577-2500.

The agency is always in need of more great foster parents and resource homes. If youre interested in becoming a foster parent, check the qualifications below as well as the Parents as Tender Healers (PATH) training calendar. The application can be found here.
